Well...I got on the plane.  Despite all of your words of encouragement (thank you) I was still terrified.  I asked for pre-boarding, and as soon as I got on, I asked the flight attendant for the extender.

But guess what?  I didn't NEED IT!!!!

I 'm not going to lie and say there was room to spare, because there wasn't, and that seat belt was pulled as tight as it could be, But it was on, and it wasn't uncomfortable, and I fit in the seat.  I smiled like an idiot from Los Angeles to Sacramento.

How very awesome!  I keep thinking how this trip to get my surgery in a few months will be the last trip I'll ever take where I'll need to ask for the extender, and that just blows my mind!  I can't wait for the next trip when I won't need it, and I'll be able to fit better into the seat.  The really exciting day will be when I can use the tray table again, as I carry all of my weight in my stomach.  It's all so exciting, isn't it!!!

WOO HOO!!

Your post made me laugh out loud because I could just envision you smiling like an idiot from ear to ear once that seatbelt clicked. I would've been too.

What a great feeling. Good for you. Did you throw the seatbelt extender as far away from you as you could? Lol... I would've done that too. =)

Congrats,
Hilary

That's AWESOME.

My biggest NSV through this whole process is how much more comfortable flying is.  I fly a lot - nearly every week, and a coach seat now feels like first class!  First class seats seem HUGE, when I get upgraded.

My only issue on international flights is that my tailbone hurts after 6-8 hours of sitting.  I found a cool inflatable pillow thing on Amazon that really helps that... and it inflates and un-inflates easily through a cool spring mechanism.

Congrats - thats a great NSV right there :)

Im pretty sure I will always panic when flying - even recently, I dehydrated myself to make sure I didnt have to pee on the plane because I just knew there was no way I'd fit in the bathroom. (I did go in there though and it worked out fine). After the fact, once I was done traveling, I realized that I'm no longer the biggest person getting on the plane, and I had no reason to stress, but it's such a horrifying ordeal being SMO that I think it will be hard to ever board a plane without that fear.
