18 miles in 2 days and follow up to my 916 over calorie day

In retrospect it was a mistake. It was hard to get back on track. I can see how a lot of people would fail after that. Fortunately I am a very experienced dieter. I am not sure I would avoid the situation next time but I would do a few things differently. I would have stuck to the tasting pours and had no additional pours. I would not eat any of the dessert course or taste the dessert wine. That woke the Kracken.

I am satisfied how it worked out but it makes me wonder could I be pound or two less today if I hadn't done it.

My friend, welcome back and remember...It doesn't matter if you could of been or would of been.  You posted a 2 lb loss, so smile and move on.  Great job of getting back on the wagon...Kudos, my friend, kudos.

I agree but I think reflecting on your decisions is a critical part of the process. Learning what not to do is as important as what not to do. Learning your limits is important too. I think that is what a lot of the negative posts were about. Their doctors gave them some limits and they stuck to them. My doctor said after 4 weeks you can eat anything you want but you should eat low carb. I have done that for the most part but I am a limit tester.

So while it worked out there are a few things I would do differently should a situation such as this should come about again.

And that... is an excellent statement.

First Keith, let me say thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. While I chose not to comment on your original post,  mostly due to not being entirely sure where I stood on the issue, I originally saw merit in both your post and the opinions shared with you (generally).  Obviously, all of us, face dilemna's of one size or shape, or we would not be here. You have tested something, shared that experiement and learned from it. I dare say we are all here because in our previous life's we failed to learn from our errors. Your sharing makes that process easier for all of us and likely helps reinforce what you want to do in your own mind aiding you in learning. Where I originally thought I agreed with you, last night was a challenege to me for mindless eatting of something I thought was harmless enough. Not trying to hijack your thread, so let's just say, I agree that it is indeed a slippery slope and by holding a strict regimen during weight loss we likely increase the chances of our success. Thanks again for sharing your experiences. I find all the dialogue here helpful and wouldn't tone it down (even if I don't always agree with message or tone of posters). Congratulations on your willingness to share, but more so on your willingness to examine all sides of this complex issue and to learn from it. Glad you enjoyed Disney and were able to make that a positive experience.

Chris

The good thing is that you identified it and did what you needed to do to turn it around.  Great work on the 18 miles!  Good job, Keith!
