What are you going to do for YOU this week? - Challenge

This week, I am using my energy and talents by being a vacation Bible School leader every night.  First night was last night and I enjoyed hanging out with kindergarden through 5th grade kids, sitting on the floor and doing motions for songs.  I tell you what, it is so much easier to work all day and go there for 3 hours each night after losing 130 pounds.  So thankful for the opportunity and that I am actually enjoying it and not just trying to get through the day!  Yay!

“Not many of us are living at our best.  We linger in the lowlands because we are afraid to climb the mountains.  The steepness and ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not learn the mystery of the hills.  We do not know what we lose in our self indulgence.  What glory awaits us if only we had the courage for the mountain climb.  What blessing we should find if only we would move to the uplands of God.?  JRM

And on the 8th day the Lord said, "Let their be squats!" and it was so. Adam and Eve joined a gym and then Eve got them to eat healthy by eating some fruit and well you know how the rest works out.

(apologies if that offended anyone, it was meant in the lightest way possible and in now was was meant to be disrespectful). Lord please forgive me for making light of the story of Creation. Amen!

Well as usual my week is PACKED. Especially with working 14 hour shifts and attempting to get ready for my vacation on Saturday. BUT  it wont stop me.

Since I work desk jobs I have made it a point to do the stand up sit down every hour. I will do it like 10 times in a row, x5. Also, when I go to the restroom, its out and down the hall. I take the long way back going out the oppositie door of the building, walk around and to the front. I park far away also. It gives me some extra walking time rather than parking in the spot by the door since I am one of the first people at the building in the mornings.

I am upping my liquid intake which for me is a challenge to begin with, i dont know why! I am going to try to drink 3 full 32oz bottles a day. I usually make it through 1 1/2 UGH.

I also at home will walk up and down my stairs 2 times. So for example if I go from my room to the middle floor, i will walk down the stairs, up the stairs, and down again. Double time. Every time I have to go up or down a flight of stairs. With getting ready for vacation this should definitely be a challenge since we also are trying to clean up the house a bit. So on top of all of that stuff, I have to clean a 3 floor house too. Definitely a challenging week but I will spice it up with more movement.

You are an inspiration to me. Despite the challenges you have, you are finding a way to make it happen. That's awesome. Keep it up and don't get discouraged. Also enjoy your vacation.

Thank you for the kick in the pants today!  I hurt my knee trying to run before I walk, and I have been very disappointed since I signed up for a 5k at the end of the month.  Today I decided to work on endurance rather than speed, so walked for 90 minutes.  The walk was along a river that flows into a lake and couldn't have been nicer!

Sounds like a great walk. You don't have to run the 5k you can always walk it and if you walked for 90 mins that is twice as long as it will take you to walk a 5k. Also when your knee recovers try a walk run. That is where you run for a set time and walk for a set time like run for 5min and walk for two. That is how marathon runners get through a marathon. Well some anyway.

Well, since I am sill sick my goals this week are a bit different. I just want to get through it. I'm drinking lots of extra fluids and added extra vitamin C to help me fight back. I spent most of the weekend on the couch. I want to be well enough to not miss another skating class on Thursday. I have that competition to prepare for.

LOL!

Go for it Keith! I was bummed I didn't have more response to my challenge...but I guess I have to face facts...we are not a hockey crew here on OH ( Or maybe everyone knows the B's are going to win?enlightened)

But I LOVE your challenge so count me in!!

I'll up my elliptical 20%...so 36 min...and I HATE squats! So naturally...I will be adding this into my workout as well ( better for a warm up or cool down do you think?)

BTW: I need a push here. 3 weeks with stuck scale. Staying in my carb/water and prot numbers, excercising daily. Considering going old school to shakes for a week...but not sure if that will just screw with my system when I get scale moving again, and then turn back to VSG food. Kinda bummed out today, but keeping my head up.

Needed this post...THANKS Keith!!!kiss

Peace

~Deb
