NEWBORN
Ok...I'm new to this site...well actually I've been stalking it for a while now but now I'm ready to join. So here's my story...(I'll try to keep it brief) Last year I went through the process of trying to get approved for the sleeve but my insurance denied me :( so I kinda just put it out of my mind. Well in October of last year I started a new job and got new insurance and my friend suggested that I try again to get approved. So I called the insurance coordinator and let her know that I had different insurance and asked what their requirements were. She told me that they required me to be on my job for a year. So again I put it out of my mind. My one year anniversary at my job was 10/29/13 but I didn't even think to call the coordinator back, like I said I had just put the whole idea of surgery out of my mind. Well on 11/4 I got a vm from a lady named Jammie and she said she was calling to schedule my surgery. Of course I was super confused..I had no idea what she was talking about! So I called her back and she told me that my insurance approved my surgery. I almost fell out my chair! I didn't have any requirements that I had to meet. I'm assuming that all the stuff I went through with my first insurance satisfied those requirements with my new insurance. Well anyway, I took that as a sign that maybe it is meant for me to go on this journey so I scheduled my surgery for 12/17!! I have my pre-admission testing on 11/25 and then my pre-op appt with my surgeon on 12/11. Everything is moving so fast. I'm really excited but nervous at the same time. I don't like not knowing what to expect. That's why I'm glad I found this site. I know a couple of people who had the bypass but I don't know anyone who has had the sleeve. Its nice to be able to come on this site and read everyone's experience. It feels good to know I'm not alone. That there are others just like me...ready to embark on a life long journey. I look forward to new friendships and a new support system.
I am so pleased that you are moving forward to conquer obesity and move to better health and mobility. I am so glad I had WLS. I just love my sleeve, and I wish you great success in your weight loss journey.
best wishes,
Carol
