I haven't seen this go up for today yet, so I'll go ahead and get it started now that I'm home from my super short trip to PA and back again.  My dad met with the oncologist for the first time post-chemo to see how things are going and I joined my parents for the appointment.

Hey everyone!  I hope your day is going well.  I'm sitting in a windowless room in PA (blah!)  Oh well life is still pretty good.

Whereabouts in PA?  My parents are in Chester County and it was gorgeous outside!  A teeny *****illy, but really lovely.  

Good luck with your 10K!  That's awesome.  Thursday is the magic "you can do more than just walk" day for me, and I'm hoping to start a 5K training program at some point... I think.... maybe......

I'm in York for work.  It is beautiful outside.  I walked outside to pick up my lunch.  

My 10K is just on the treadmill.  I actually signed up for the Chicago Marathon in October (eek!), so am working my way up mileage wise.  

You can totally do it!  Just take it slow.  C25K is a great program.

Wow, that's great!  Are you using a training program?  My partner really liked the free Runkeeper training app while preparing for his first marathon.  (The Rock N Roll in DC in March.)  I'm in awe of people who actually enjoy running.  I wonder if I'll ever be able to be one of them!  

I did the Zombies Run! 5K Training app last year, but on the elliptical, and I really enjoyed it.  So I'm hoping it will work well for me with actual running this time :)

I'm not using a training program.  I may use one when I get closer to the day.  I'm actually doing 2 sprint triathalons (June & July) beforehand.  I do better when I keep my workouts really varied.  The marathon training programs usually require 3+ days of running per week.  I like to keep it at 1 long run and then 2-3 other days I do a short run or sprints in addition to my workout for that day.  

 

In the past when I focused too much on running, I would burn out.  I'm not sure I enjoy running.  I enjoy the feeling afterwards and the sense of accomplishment of getting better at it.  I'm a bit worried the marathon is too much for me, but we'll see.  It is a bucket list item, so would be nice to do.  And if I put my mind to it, I know I can do it.

It sounds like you've got a great plan for yourself, so I'm sure you'll exceed all of your expectations!  I'm impressed that you run even though you don't enjoy it - that's just amazing to me, especially at this point in my journey!

hope all went well at your appt. Bad weekend for me. so today is restart day for me.

B: 1/2 c raisin Bran, 1/2 c. milk

L: chicken salad, 2 oz. chicken breast, almonds, tossed salad

S: greek yogurt

D: not sure, chicken or ham and veg.

Thanks, it did go mostly well.  The cancer on his liver is resolved and the other two sites show no growth from the last scan which is positive!
