Things you (surprisingly) don't miss?
I was talking with a friend on Sunday and she mentioned pizza and I had the realization that a) I haven't had pizza since my pre-op diet and b) I haven't wanted pizza. I was totally surprised by that! I love pizza so it seems really strange to me that it hasn't even really crossed my mind at all, outside of this conversation. I also haven't found myself caring about hoagies post-op, which is super strange since they've always been one of my major food groups.
Are there any food things that you used to love but have found you just don't care about post-op?
(On the other hand, there's sushi, which I have enjoyed in post-op. I guess I love it more than pizza. It also has more redeeming qualities than pizza, so that's a good thing.)

Hi Gwen!
I don't miss ice cream which suprises me since I know chips and ice cream were big contributing factors in my weight gain my entire life. I can eat ice cream by the gallons (maybe? lol) but chips also haven't been that tempting after WLS but I've had my share of it since then. Both are food items that I do have at home since my kids enjoy them every so often but I don't miss them.
The one thing I have grown to love since surgery is seafood which I could not stand before! I love sushi, shrimp, fish, crab, & salmon. I still don't like lobster. They look like the ****roach of the sea to me. Sorry if that offends anyone but I have a phobia of roaches!!!
And my husband introduced me to cajun crawfish. Lawd, that sh** is good!!!!!!

Ice cream! I haven't had any craving for it either post-op! When my partners have had dessert, I have "stolen" a teaspoon size taste, but the urge to pick up a pint and devour the whole thing hasn't even crossed my mind. Amazing.
It's awesome that you've come to love seafood post-op! I should have included that in my post - what do you love now that you didn't used to. :D My partner refuses to eat anything with an exoskeleton, so I understand the lobster issue. Hehe.

But the seafood thing for me is crazy since shrimp and crawfish have that exoskeleton too! And when we dined on crawfish, those come in a big ass bowl where we have to rip and tear those suckers apart ourselves ... they kinda look like lobster too but just smaller. Maybe that is my thing, who the frig knows, lol!!! Maybe dip the lobster in the cajun spices and I'd be good to go ... ummm, no. Maybe not, I still dont like it.

Maybe lobster would be okay if it was already deshelled before it got to you? I don't know! I haven't ventured into lobster yet... shellfish is still a relatively new addition to my life and I don't seek it out yet. I'm really only okay with it if it just happens to be in something I'm already eating.

It's kinda weird, because I crave things occasionally but I can't imagine actually eating them. The mental desire is still there but the thought of actually consuming it doesn't appeal to me at all! Like pizza, for example!
Hi Gwenmo,
I miss it all. I can talk myself out of eating it. I can say, "You can't have pizza but you can have those wonderful stuffed peppers with lots of melty cheese!" or "You can't have ice cream, but you'll love the yogurt with fresh strawberries!" But I do miss many of those special foods.
I think you are lucky if you don't.
