THRIFT STORE Score
Hey everybody,
So I'm continuing to shop out of my closet but have bought a few work out t-shirts the most expensive being $6 & the least expensive being $4.88; Today my daughter & I had a thrift store outing & I don't know why in the heck I had stopped shopping at them; it's perfect for us losing weight & I found some really nice like new exercise t-shirts for .99 cents & even a cool cartoon network regular show t-shirt for my daughter. I like to think of myself as being thrifty & a wee bit frugal but don't know why I stopped thrift shopping. It's the perfect place for me to go & not spend a ton of cash on things I need as I'm losing; now when I hit goal I'm gonna splurge on a really beautiful dress but for now I'll continue to closet shop & thrift shop. My little hint for my other thrifty folks out there...look for thrift shops or consignment shops in affluent neighborhoods. Their may not be many around fancy places but check in a town close by the richy neighborhoods. I love seeing what rich folks get tired of & have some more thrift & consignment store shopping planned when I have another cash stash. Oh yeah right now is the time to buy jackets & sweaters because it's so hot there will be more of a selection in stores & from people cleaning out their closets. Have a great evening everybody.
My score breakdown; 3 shirts, a jacket, purse, kid gate-will be used for my pets, & my daughter found a brand new still plastic sealed 2014 Twilight calendar all for $16 bucks & some change
Where I shopped yesterday: http://www.foundryministries.com/ amazing outreach center, this is also where I donate to every year sometimes twice a year-they come pick up my stuff too; I always wait until I have a lot as I have a place to store my donations
Plan to shop at the Salvation Army thrift store in an affluent neighborhood near me soon; been there before & they even sell flat screen tv's -Wow http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/ways-we-help
Going to buy some of my daughter's back to school clothes here, big selection of name brand stuff teens love: http://www.platoscloset.com/

Keep being thrifty it works lol. ..

I've never actually been in a thrift store except to donate things, I always assume that they wouldn't have plus size stuff so it's not worthwhile. Do they actually have plus size clothes? Are they organized by size? Do they have changing rooms?

I just started going. First one was a joke, hardly anything to buy and high prices. Found one this week with 40' each of mens dress pants, jeans, shorts, tees, collar shirts, and warm clothes. sizes sm to 4x tops and up to 58" waist with 5 dressing rooms. Even more for women to choose from than men and shoes, hats, accessories - a whole new world. Bought 6 shirts for $18. Try a few, I've found a huge variety in my limited experience.
"Huh," Angloam said, noting this carefully and planning a trip soon. I never thought I would find things my size even as it shrinks. What was the name of the shop - was it Goodwill or should I look for a non-huge-entitity place?
SLEEVED 21 May 14 with Dr. B. Greene. Max weight 470 lifetime; 395 pre-op; goal weight 190. Current weight 217; 178 lost so far, 27 to go and keep off.
Sounds odd, but I don't pay much attention to names - was that sears or pennys, was that macy's or nordstroms, beats me. I think this one was a local shop - maybe called "unique thrift store" - it was in an old grocery store building that I used to shop at as child - HUGE square feet. One I went into, I think a goodwill, had a huge sign in a strip mall, inside it was no bigger than a mcdonalds. Oddly, not the most affluent part of town. I almost didn't go in - hate shopping, hate clothes shopping even more.
Well, a good friend just recommended something called Value Village in Brooklyn Park (far from the most affluent place in the universe) - this evening I may check out the Goodwill as it's that bit closer.
I hate clothes shopping, except maybe when I'm at/closer to goal weight I might like it a bit more. I keep seeing such great things I can't squeeze into. Mind you my tastes are at the moment simple - polo shirts and khakis/jeans.
Where do you live? I had the impression out East? I ask as the huge store I went to was in Brooklyn Park, or New Hope MN. If your local its off Winnetka and roughly 49th.
