day 5 of soft foods-can't eat much
Hi all! I was on liquids for 2 weeks post op, and then on to soft foods. Today is day 5. I was super excited when I could move to soft foods, but I usually can only eat like 1, maybe 1.5 ounces at a time. The first day I had a couple bites of scrambled eggs, but those did not taste good. So I've been eating chicken or beans. Is it normal to only be able to eat that much? I'm chalking it up to the fact that I'm only 5 days in. You know, I'm just tired of protein shakes so I was hoping to be able to get more of my protein from food. Oh, also, today after I could only eat 1 ounce of chicken, I seemed to be hungry in like hour :( Tonight I had some turkey meatballs and they are not sitting very well. To quote someone on one of these boars, it feels like an alien is going to pop out of my chest :(
It is normal I guess. I am now on puree and everything I try just makes me nauseous big time.. I get clammy and weak like Im going to puke.. But breathe through it.. I was so excited too to be off liquids and now I am blah about all foods.. I cant wait to eat and not feel like my chest is going to explode.. I only eat maybe 4 baby bites of food at a time.. I too get hungry fast after a meal.. I blame that on not waiting long enough after to drink..
Have you talked to your doc about the nausea, clamminess and weakness? Those are not normal!

Well if it is because you're eating too fast or too big of bites, there's an easy way to test that. Eat more slowly and take smaller bites.
If you're still experiencing nausea every time you eat, something isn't right.

It's not abnormal. Even now, at about 4 months out, I can only eat 2-3 ounces. I've accepted the fact I'll need one shake a day for a long time to come!
