Maybe we should post strategies on who to give our spouses a break. e.g. Tonight I gave the go ahead for wife and son to order take out pizza. I am hoping to be mostly not there when the pizza arrives (They will most likely fini****) but I don't want to lose their support (which has been much better than I expected) by being too hard nosed.

I love that idea!  He's been so awesome throughout this entire thing, anything I can do to make him feel supported is great.

I think he also needs people to tell him it's okay to live HIS life as he chooses and while my surgery impacts him (obviously), it doesn't DOMINATE every behavior.  Does that make sense?  Because I'm still so new to this (only ~3 weeks out from surgery), it doesn't bother me when my husband brings back taco bell (his FAVORITE guilty pleasure) or order a pizza.  I've told him this repeatedly, but he struggles. I think it's him having a conversation with himself about how guilty he feels eating in front of me or bringing any kind of crap food into the house.

My surgeon offers a monthly support group, one days and one evenings for his patients and spouses are welcome to attend. There maybe something like that in your area.  My husband has been very supportive, in fact he calls me a cheap date when we eat out!  He does feel some guilt for eating foods I once enjoyed that I can no longer eat but I reassure him that I had plenty before my surgery!!!

He attended the group support meetings with me, and it was incredibly helpful.
