I was told that soda has to be something you have to give up. Soda will make you bloated and can stretch out your sleeve making you able to eat more than you should (limiting food intake is the whole point of VSG). I know someone who had VSG and still continued to drink soda and stretched their sleeve out and because of this gained all their weight back and then some. It's not worth it. You are going to need to find something else. Stay away from carbonation.
Carbonation does not stretch sleeves or pouches. It's a myth.

I know the feeling, but I wouldn't recommend it. The bubbles do not feel good when they hit your stomach. I tried having a sip several weeks post op and ouch! Very uncomfortable. I stick with decaf coffee and tea, water, Gatorade, or protein drinks. After feeling that just once it cured me of wanting soda again.
I thought I was missing the sonic drinks but it was the nugget ice I wanted lol so I got a bag, it worked out nicely
