I am having the surgery on Dec, 7. I am so freaking out and excited I am going to the pre admission today. I am scared of that tube after the surgery. I have talk to so many people about that ans they say that it doesnt hurt  is that true?   Does anybody know of some1 that has the surgery in their twenties? I am 25, single mommy but I havent seen anybody around my age that posts on the forum ?  Please pray for me !!!! thanks

I am 29, not quite as young as you! But I wanted to wish you good luck, I am having surgery on the 4th of December, we will be on the losers bench together soon!  I suspect the tube you are talking about is the one they put in your nose?  I don't have to have a nasogastric tube, I have never had one before either.  But I can tell you as a nurse that no they aren't comfortable but if you doctor requires it there must be a good reason.  Just hang in there and hopefully you won't have it in too long.  The only other tube I could think you are talking about is a urine catheter or a drain which most people have, neither are that big of a deal really.  You will do just fine.  Enjoy the ride.  See you on the other side soon. Hugs and God Bless, I will be praying for you.
Hugs, Melissa

Hi sweetie! Congrats on your date!!!  Yaaaayyyyyy!!!!!!!   I am so excited for you!!!    I am preop and much older than you, unfortunately, but wish I wish I had done it younger, so good for you!!    If you are talking about the NG tube that goes down your nose, well I cannot lie, they SUCK bad, but if it is necessary, then you'll have to deal with it. Just think of the cause, it will be worth it. I will be praying for you that it isn't too bad. If it's the drain tube, can't help you on that one, yet!   I sent you a friend request awhile ago, you probably haven't seen it or know how, and you are not alone in that. If you go to the my friends part, there are 3 tabs and the last one is the one you need to go to, it will show people who are waiting for you to respond. If you want to be that persons friend, you push the accept button.  I hope you will take me as a friend so I can support you.  If you need to talk or anything, I am here.      I will be praying for you and know you will do well.     God bless your journey sweetie,  Becky If you can't figure out the friend thing or the PM part, my regular email is [email protected]    big hugs

Congrats on your upcoming surgery, I don't remember any tube except 2 drain tubs which didn't even hurt. I wish I had done this surgery years ago, it has made a big difference already for me.

i had the tube you are talking about and it does hurt but all of it hurts so it really kind of all blends in together.  The tube was originally on the right side of my nose and when I woke up from the emergency surgery the moved it to my left (was much more comfortable on the right side) plus I had a drain from my gall bladder the q pump ( to put pain med right into the incision) and still have a drain in on my right side to my pouch just incase of dehydration etc.  For me the surgery hurt a lot I am not gonna lie but the recovery is much more tolerable though not pain free. I tire easily in fact I was going to log off when I saw your post and thought I may be able to help some.  take care
