2 scrambled eggs = 14g fat? Good grief!

I just started keeping a food log on fitday.com and was shocked to see that 2 eggs is 14g fat and 15 protein!  How is that possible?  How much protein do you lose by cutting out the yokes?  Problem is I prefer scrambled and just yokes wouldn't be very good that way....

According to Fitday, 2 whites is 33 calories, 0 fat and almost 7g of protein.  jacie

Wow that a lot of fat.  But I told by my nutrious that 2 boiled or scrambled egg with the yoke or with out is only 7 grams of protein.  My pouch doesn't like scrambled or yokes

I eat Eggbeaters, which is just the whites.  Some people put milk in their scrabled eggs, and I wonder if fitday considers that, or what size eggs they are calculating on.

remember that there are different fats.  Egg fats are the good type.  14 g isn't really that much.  Eggs are very good food, so I wouldn't worry about it.  If you keep the other fats low, then it should be fine.  Now you can take 2 eggs and take one yoke out, it will still give you the flavor but cut out half the fats. That is something my surgeon suggested to keep fats under control. Remember we need fats in order to live.  Just choose good ones and keep it lower.  I had a real bad time when I started out because I had no fats at all in my diet.  I had itchy skin that was so bad I was taking pain meds to sleep at night.  I had scratch marks everywhere from scratching.  Once I added fats, fish oil to start with, it went away.  Now I use real butter to taste and only look for low fats or no fats in things that it makes a big difference in calories, like dressings.  I am doing fine.  I eat eggs most days when on the road, it never affected my weightloss.  I have one to 2 a day about 5 days a week.  I can't ask for the one yoke thing from a restaurant, well I could, not sure it would happen and I also can't eat scrambled eggs, and fried without yokes, not my taste.

it gave me a couple of options on size and I chose a large egg.  I think I'll try egg beaters - I hate to sacrifice the protein to lose the fat....

How many grams of fat are listed on the egg package?  I am wondering if fitday is factoring in extra fat that you might use cooking the eggs rather than what it would be using cooking spray.? Of course, it you do go for the egg beaters it is a non-issue but I think even the 7 grams isn't too bad if you are watching your fat intake elsewhere.  Eggs are really one of the best sources of protein.

UMMMM, the protein is in the white not the yoke. If you go with Egg beaters you are getting only the white, no yoke. There is a small amount of protein in the yoke, but more in the white. 1/4 cup of white is 6.0 g of protein. 1 fried is 6.2g of protein. Scrambled with milk is 6.8g, 1 extra large whole raw is 7.2g. You make the choice. Do not get so hyped up with the fats that go with proteins because you need the good proteins and along with that comes some fat. You need fats in your body to process your bowels and keep your skin from getting real dry. You just have to find a balance. Chris

Egg fats are good fats! Don't be so shocked to see the high number of fats; look at what kind of fat it is. The fats in eggs are good fats, essential for your body.  Jen
