Does it really take a half hour for the liquids to leave your pouch? How big is the stoma opening?

It seems like it would move on through almost immediately. So why do we wait for a half hour before eating?
Hi Wanda,
I do not wait a 1/2 hour to EAT after I drink - but I do wait a 1/2 hour to DRINK after I eat.
hugs,
Britt

Absolutely! It makes sense to wait to drink after you eat. I'm having trouble understanding why you can't eat after you drink. It just doesn't seem like there would be liquid left in the pouch after just a few minutes.
Yes, I agree - I've never been told NOT TO DRINK for at least a 1/2 hour before eating - Maybe call your surgeon and ask them to explain - then share "why" with us
How did your FLOWERS come out?

Britt

right, i can understand not drinking with a meal or right after a meal because it will wash the food down out of the pouch too quick. but why not drikn before a meal? if the drink will go right through the pouch, it wont be able to fill you up so you arent hungry for food.
I don't completely understand either??
