ORLISTAT Weight loss Aid

Has anyone heard of ORLISTAT weight loss capsules???  They are supposed to be the only FDA approved weight loss pills out in the market.   Well, I guess my older sister is a little envious of my rescent weight loss and so she bought a starter pack of these pills and I wanted to know if anyone had heard anything about them.  My previous experience with diet pills is that once you stop taking them, you regain all your weight back and more.   If anyone has heard anything about them, whether positive or negative please let me know.  I want her to know what she's getting herself into before she starts taking them.  Thanks a bunch!

Orlistat (Alli) is the over-the-counter strength of the prescription drug Xenical. There isn't a diet drug I haven't tried and I do believe Xenical was the worst IMHO. Hideous orange grease shoots out of you like a jet propelled rocket and sometimes without warning.  Tell your sister to bring another set of panties in her purse and never be more than a few feet from a bathroom. The trick is you are so horrified by this process that you cut out fats and lose a little weight. I was on it for a month lost 8 pounds... so not worth it. Just my 2 cents.  ~Michelle

I believe you are talking about the new drug on the market, just came out a few days ago, call Alli. There  is a great chance of oily poops and a lot of pooping and a lot of farting with that drug. There are remedies out there to counteract the pooping and the smell, which can be very bad. I have thought of trying that drug myself just to get under better control.I am going to see my PCP tomorrow and discuss it with him as I have diabetes. I hear it is a smaller dosage than Xenical, which caused the same side effects.  Xenical you needed a prescription, with Alli you do not.

My understanding of Alli is it blocks the absorbtion of fats only.  Doesn't help with appetite control.  That is why the side affect of poop is there, the fat goes thru unabsorbed and processed.

thanks for the replys, please keep em' comming.  She's so excited about these pills, but she doesn't want to eat right.   I try to tell her what to eat from what I read here is healthy food, but she always has to order a side of french fries with whatever she eats...   :(

After a few weeks of eating french fries, the fat blocker will kick in and she'll have uncontrollable orange oil leaking out her behind. Honestly. It's disgusting!!!! Dawn

If she's gunna take Alli/Xenical and eat any fried foods at all, she'd better eat them on the toilet.

All that "medication" does is keep your body from absorbing most of the fats, it pushes it right through your body. She's going to have oily stools, an oily orange water ring in the toilet, not to mention, an oily orange stain in her underwear and her outer clothing as well.

If she doesn't eat carefully she'll pay the price believe us!
She might be walking along, feel like she's gunna fart and *POOF* orange oily crap stain on her panties that soak through clothing and upholstery.

I wouldn't even suggest it to people I don't like!

It does nothing else for you, doesn't control hunger or cravings, just makes alien poopy stains on everything!

I hope she has a high tolerance for embarrassment!

Good luck! She'll need it!

I wonder why the FDA approved this so called great medication then?

Oh it works. (maybe a "skinny minnie" was on the approval board with a grudge against "chubbies"?) And not as many side effects as other drugs either. Like any other weightloss drug, IF you "follow the program". God forbid if there's "hidden" fat in something.

It's uber expensive too. I just wouldn't recommend it, the side effects are not worth it.

I lost weight with it, yeah, but it sure wasn't worth the 20 pounds I lost, then regained.

I am currently taking Alli. I seem to a forever PRE_OP so I decided a year ago to loose it on my own. I started low-fat, low-calorie... I lost 117 pounds this way. But I have been at a 3 month stall. SO I decided to try Alli. I did lots of research first.. The oily poop and blows...is from eating too much fat. My doctr told me to eat no more than 20 grams of fat a day.. I eat about 10-15. I have been taking Alli for a week now and have had no oily poop. If your sister will eat low-fat (no oily french fries) and oven fry her food the side effects are lower. But if she continues to eat the fatty foods she will have the blows!!! I really hope this helps..

Hugs, Pam-n-TX
