I can't wait to have my first salad since surgery I start on my regular diet next week.  Are raw veggies something we should aviod for a while or will have a really hard time with them at first?  Any Advice in that area??  Are things like celery sticks and carrot sticks ok???

I was very careful post op trying raw veggies. I tried one grape a month or so post op and oh it was such a bad experience. Pain, gagging, and throwing up. The grape skin did not SIT well in my pouch. So I took it very slow since I did not want to repeat the grape experience. Celery is hard to digest and carrots have a lot of natural sugar so I would go slow. I did enjoy baby food applesause and apricots farther out. Still can't eat raw apples after 33 months post op. Good luck and success on your journey.

I have a tough time with raw veggies. Anything with a skin just gets the better of me. I can do iceburg type lettuce since it has a lot of water in it. Celery is going to be hard since it is stringy. I would be careful on anything with skins (peel first) and stick to things that have a lot of liquid to them. Go real slow on this since a lot of people (including me) have trouble with raw veggies early on.
