Is it bad that I've not vomited?

Okay, weird question - I know.  But it seems I see so many newbies posting about only keeping half their food down, or having whole days of vomiting.  I am 3 weeks out and have never thrown up - but sometimes (in an effort to get all my water in) I feel like I have overdone it and my stomach hurts for quite a while.  Am I just streching my pouch out?  Does everyone vomit?

I am 6 months post op and have never vomited.  Felt icky once after I ate something that got "stuck" once, but never vomited.  I am just careful with the fats and sugars and portion sizes.   Sally

I am over a year out, have never vomited, never gotten nauseated, never got the foamies, never got anything stuck. At 3 months I told my surgeon I hadn't thrown up yet, and he said, "Are you supposed to?" He then told me that throwing up early out can actually hurt your pouch, that you should do everything so you don't throw up. He says that this surgery should not make you any more prone to throwing up than before surgery.

Not everybody vomits.  I don't.  Not everybody dumps.  I don't.   Not everybody has pain.  I never did.  Everybody is different and everybody's experiences are going to be different.   You're doing great.  Keep up the good work.

I would say you're lucky but you're not out of the woods yet. I don't know what stage in the graduated diet you are on (or if you're already eating solids), but vomiting generally comes with eating solids, especially when you try certain foods for the first time, like beef or fish.

However, I've only vomited from not chewing beef and fish enough, never from eating too much. And I've never had a day of vomiting.

I hope you stay lucky though. Take care!

It's not weird!  I'm 5 years PO and never vomited or even dumped (I think I got close one time and that was enough for me!).  Just consider it a blessing and don't worry about it.  If you eat/drink too much it does hurt in your stomach for a while, it's a warning so try not to go that far.  Follow what your doc says and you should be fine.  I wouldn't worry about streatching your pouch out at this point but I would tell my doctor if I was having this problem.  You really need to sip, sip, sip and not gulp!   Best of luck to you!!!

No puking for me either.  I'm being SO careful! =)  My goal is to NEVER puke.  I HATE puking!!!! I am just starting real (though still soft) foods ie. fish, shrimp, scalops, deli meat..., so there is still a chance I will in the future if I'm not careful. MTT

I've never vomited.  In the early post-op phase I'd get a queasiness, "head to the bathroom" feeling, but nothing would ever happen - a cough, and the feeling would go away. I have to say, I'm grateful that I'm not able to - I had terrible GERD as a pre-op, had an esophageal stricture as a result, so it's a blessing that things are under better control now.  I don't know if it's the effect of the new pouch connections being so tiny or a matter of simply being "cut off" from a larger acid supply or a combo of both that did the trick, but I much prefer life on this side of the reflux fence. :)
