Didn't you post this yesterday? For some reason, I remember answering it...

I ate mexican food as soon as I could eat pureed stuff.  I stuck with refried beans, cheese, sour cream, that kind of thing.  It all depends on what your stomach can tolerate.

As for chinese, I never eat it at restaurants because it's loaded with fat and sugar but I make stir fry, beef and brocolli, and the like often and have since I was place on solid food, no restrictions plan.

Talk to your nut, everyone's protocol is different.

I had mexican soon as I moves to soft foods/ puree.

Chinese I can't eat but will eat sushi with no rice wrapped in bean curd. Unless it's something steamed or the soup. I also tried an egg roll and it was good. Mostly ate the innerds.

mexican as soon as i could... i just love mexican, but i watch what i get.  i stick to corn tortillas and very little meat, just bc i don't tolerate meat well.  watch out for spicy food, it is hard to chew and chew a jalapeno!

chinese...i usually eat the soups.  the soups are actually really good and i enjoy them.  i do eat maybe a half of a egg roll bc that is all i can get in.  noodles do good, but rice tend to make me full really fast.  i don't do the really high sugar stuff like sweet and sour chicken/pork...the sugar turns my stomach and my stomach really hates chicken.  but you have to figure something out.. you just have to look.  i also pick off of my hubbys plate it is easier and cheaper.

Everyone is different. Check with your medical posse.

Just my personal experience...

Mexican Food:

Refried Beans with Salsa, Cheese, Sour Cream - 8 days
Fajitas - Beef, Chicken, Shrimp (no tortilla, watched the pepper skins) = 8 weeks

Chinese:

Wonton Soup (minus the wontons) = Day 4
Egg Drop Soup = 2 weeks
Egg Foo Young (sauce on the side) = 2 weeks
Crab Legs = 2 weeks

YMMV,

I too was eating Refried beans on the puree stage, If I go to a mexican resturant I have a carne asada or al pastor taco minus most of the tortilla.  I havent ate at a chinese resturuant yet cant get anyone to go with me.....I have been making my own stir fry though with thin sliced beef and veggies with whole wheat spaghetti noodles. For some reason I have been craving chinese like all the time since surgery....I see lots of people asking about chinese, I wonder if there is a connection between WLS post ops and chinese food!    Kim

I do some form of mexican food quite often.

Chinese is more tricky... I try to be careful, but I do enjoy some once in awhile. Sometimes I get sick, sometimes not. I think the safest bet for me is when we go to the chinese buffet here that has a mongolian grill. I can choose what protein, veggies and sauce goes into it, and they stir fry it in front of me. (I tend to go with shrimp or crab... sometimes chicken... bean sprouts, a bit of broccoli, some mushrooms and onions.) I do much better with this than the typical chinese dishes on the buffet.
