Colace and Pepcid

I am 6ish weeks out. I was told to take colace and pepcid (20mg) twice daily but not told for how long. I suspect that the pepcid helps prevent heartburn and acid reflux and generally clams the pouch. I continue to take the pepcid but once I became "regular" I eliminated the colace. I've seen a post or two that spoke about colace in a manner that made me think it was part of the regular routine.

Did you take colace? For how long? Liquid or other form? (The liquid is terribly gross).

What about pepcid or other similar form?

Thanks.

My surgeon has done RNY for over 8 yrs. He recommends Prilosec for the first 90 days to all pateints.  Colace is a stool softener. I used it for several months, and then it stopped working at all.  Right on the label it states for "temporary relief of constipation". So now I use an Herbal tea, noted on my profile page, that I drink each night at 10 PM, and the next morning there no "issues" with the problem you mention. I took the prescription form of Prilosec and not the OTC. DAVE

Thank you Dave. You are very generous with offering your experiences and recommendations. I really appreicate it and feel better about stopping the colace without "permission".
