Does anyone have any advice on what can be used to smooth out the scars and discolorations from surgery?

Cortisone cream helps some. but just give tham time-mine are quite faded after one year. They will never go away, if that's what you are hoping.

My scars looked awful at first!  As I lost weight and my belly toned up, they appear much much smaller.  A year later, they have faded and are barely noticeable......but yes, still there.  Not sure of any creams that help though.
Best Wishes,

I agree with just allowing time to take its course. They will get lighter and smoother. My plastic surgeon even recommended I not bother putting anything on my plastic surgery scars.

Get some vitamin E cream...that works really well but so doesn't time. Mine are barely visiable now, I don't have any left from my GBP but my PS scars are very light almost not
showing at all.
Ask your surgeon first though, they don't like you puting anything on them so early out...ask first....

Try Kelocote.  That is what my PS recommended after I had a broken nose.

Hi,

I have hypertrophic scars. They are large, raised and red. I have been seeing a PS and having cortisone injections and lazer therapy for the past 6 months. They are starting to shrink in size. I've always scarred this way If you haven't in the past, you most likely won't now. For most people, scars fade in time.

Tincture of time and sometimes silicone dressings/sheets.
