Has anybody tried Tylenol PM after surgery?

To be able to sleep at night.  I just called the nurse at my doctor's office and she said that they can't send  me anything to sleep but to try to take a Tylenol PM.

I don't understand why not....oh well!!!

Is anybody taking Ambien or Lunesta or something like that to sleep after surgery?

Thanks,

Maria

I take Ambien CR 6.25 mg. It is a low dose and works well for me. I had regular 10 mg Ambien and they were a little to strong. If you've never taken a sleep aid - try Tylenol P.M. It might do fine for you.

Yeah I used Tylenol pm after ryn, but I went back to my ambien so far I don't have any side effects from taking it. I always had a problem with sleep it seems like after surgery it got worst.

I take either 1/2 or a whole TylenolPM a couple times a week. I've had problems sleeping for quite a few years and this works for me. Just make sure you take it about an hour before you plan on going to be. I've watched the cloc****il 1am and then took it . I eventually fell asleep but that 6am alarm came way too quick.

I love love loved my Lunesta but stopped taking it when my insurance no longer covered the $140 a month script.  So now I take tylenol pm - not nearly as effective but it does help.

I'm still pretty early out, and I found something that works well...same ingredients as tylenol pm  :O)

I take a 1/4 to a 1/2 dose of Diphenhydramine (generic benadryl - its cheaper! ), and liquid adult tylenol ~ Sleep like a baby, like I did BEFORE surgery! ~

Hope you find what works for you! ~

I had posted something about this months ago..seems
alot of us, have a hard time sleeping after surgery,
And my doc finally gave me ambien, i seem to wake alot
during the night, but not always..and i do sleep better than I
was, Altho they seem apprehensive to precribe these pills.
Least mine was, Argggg...you dont get sleep it effects everything with you...Not tried Tylenol PM, i was using benadryl...but for some
crazt reason, it was causing my restless leg syndrom to start in
..I may ask about the ambien CR next time...good luck hope
you find something to help you sleep !
