Post WLS...Which foods are not your friend...
Chicken is still a hit or miss item for me, so I'm always careful when going out.
Also - rice and pasta are no's for me, ugh, they make me sick every time.
I haven't pushed the sugars, and still don't plan on it. I know too much fat makes me dump. So I haven't even had a bite of ice cream in over 2 and a half years.

The only things that are really not my friend are ice cream and milk. I'm lactose intollerant and they make my feel just awful (but that was as a pre-op too)
I'm fine with most white flour foods, no problems at all, not even gas, but pasteries and pasta make me a bit too crampy for my liking, a little gassy too, but not too bad. Everything else I'm fine with. I'm a very happy girl that I can still have my chocolate!!

I can eat pretty much whatever I want. I stir away from anything greasy. It won't agree with me and I don't need it.
Sugar doesn't bother me at all unless I go overboard on it and I don't need to do that either, so I have no problem with sugar.
I can't seem to eat at Cracker Barrel no matter what I try. They must use a lot of grease in their food. Another place is McDonald's. I have only tried it like twice and I tried to choose something that wouldn't be unhealthy but they have too much grease in their food too.
Like everybody, I'm limited as to how much I can eat, but I haven't really found any one food item I can't eat. I can eat bread but I try not to eat too much of it. I will get a subway and eat part of it but most places I get a burger or sandwich, I throw away the bread and eat the meat.

I eat at the Cracker Barrel quite a bit. Almost always have the meat loaf.....Mmmmmmm.

No meat for FOUR more months? Why? Ugh, that would drive me insane! I am glad my surgeon has the progressive plan that he does. We do clear liquids only while in the hospital. Then, "full liquids" (anything liquid/pureed) for one week. Then, at one week out you start "soft foods." At one month postop, he releases you to eat "anything you can tolerate" and he advises moderation and trying one food at a time so that you can more easily address tolerance issues. I was eating my first piece of steak (grilled medium and cut in ever so teensy bits) at 5 weeks postop. Dr. Stickler does believe that putting real food through your pouch and stoma early out helps reduce the scarring and restriction issues. He doesn't have very many folks who end up needing their stoma stretched. His patients do fairly well. I think I may have to talk to the doctor and nutritionist and ask why such a limited food approach...
