Crystal Light Warning!!!

I just got home from Publix with a new box of Crystal Light Natural Citrus Splash.

To my surprise it has 40 m-grams of CAFFEINE! That is per serving. One of those little tiny packs has 2 servings, which means every time you drink one it's 80 m-grams of caffeine, because nobody has just half of a pack.

I did a comparison and a regular 16 oz Coke only has 49 m-grams.

I was shocked, since all wls surgeons recommend Crystal Light. Post wls we are to avoid caffeine. Be careful of the new Crystal Light favors out there. This was one of the Focus Crystal Lights.

That variety of Crystal Light is one of the "enhanced" varities. Most of the varieties do not have caffeine. Even the iced teas are minimal in the amount of caffeine they have. I'm guessing it gives you "focus" by giving you a little caffeine boost.

Thanks for the info. I gave up on Crystal light a good while back. It started tasting very bitter to me. Good luck with your journey!

yes some has caffine...Not all do. You just grabbed the wrong one...that is all. Unfortunately many products are doing this now. We just have to be a bit more dilligent in our lable reading.

Have you try the Wyler's light you can find them at walgreens or family dollar. They cost $1 for pk of 8 of them. Which much cheaper then crystal light.

Yes, I like the pink lemonade. Also the Hawaiian Punch. I found them at Dollar Tree also.

Have to tell you though, they are sooooo good.

Course I am pre-op, and don't have to avoid caffiene.

I did the same thing you did! When I got home from the store, my 17 year old daughter read the ingredients and told me about it. She told me that anytime something is labled "energy" to watch out. They usually ad caffeine.... Wow! if I had been that concientious at 17, I might not have a weight problem now!!

I drink CL all the time and never looked. It was recommended by my surgeon and I didn't know the newer ones were different.

I think it's just the Focus products. I will just have to remember to read everythig post op.
