Are you going to get a H1N1 shot when available?  Has anyone talked to their surgeons office about this?

I was advised to get when available, but I am asthmatic and I also got a flu shot.  I am high risk though.

I was going to, but then I heard there is a risk of a paralyzing disease,  Guillain-Barre Syndrome . My husband is a nurse at the hospital here and he doesn't want me or the kids to get the shot based on that information.

Yes, I'm going to get one.

I think the paralysing disease you are talking about is Guillian-Barre.  You can get that from the regular flu shot, too.  But it's very rare.  By the way, you can also get it from having the flu.  My mother developed Guillian-Barre after having the flu and was told it was a rare neurological complication that can come from having the flu.

No, but only because I work out of my home.  I live a life of a hermit. ;o)

If I still worked in a hospital setting absolutely YES!  I would get it!  I would never want to pass on something like that to a patient.

I work in a hospital and all staff that do direct patient care have been told it's mandatory... So, I guess that means I am getting one... BOOO! They also made getting the flu shot mandatory as well, but I usually get that anyway.

I get the regular flu shot every year (just got one a few weeks ago) and of course I'd get this one too.

My surgeon states right in his patient information packet that in particular we should always get the flu shots, regular or any additional ones recommended. So, absolutely. i've already had my general flu shot and can't wait for the next one!

Honestly, no I do not believe I will get one. It is so new, there is no possible way they can know the long term effects it will have, but that's just me.
