H1N1 shot??
What exactly are you worried about with the H1N1 vaccine? In what way are H1N1 and it's vaccine vastly different from other flues and vaccines? Maybe there's something I don't realize.
Thanks,
-Cyn
I haven't done a lot of research on it yet, but I'm just afraid of it being so new. Just like when any new vaccine or medicine comes out, they can't possibly know the long term effects on people. This morning I read on CNN.com that they have given it to 60 pregnant women so far, I'm sorry but that's a drop in the bucket when you think of how many women are actually pregnant. It's just me worrying like I always do , but I just can't push pass it. I have even heard a few drs in this area are not recommending it, simply because it is so new.

Again, every year the flu shot is new. Every year, new strains are included. The only reason the H1N1 isn't already in this year's shot is that it was discovered after they started mixing this batch of vaccine and it was too late to add it.
Don't let your failure to understand why this is no different than any other flu shot put you or your kid at risk. The flu can KILL.

What new testing are you talking about?
The development is rushed EVERY year for run-of-the-mill flu vaccines. As soon as it's determinded what strain of flu is headed down the pipeline, a vaccine is rushed. H1N1 is no different.
I think you're not grasping how this flu and vaccine isn't different than any other flu. It's not a SUPER FLU and the vaccines for it haven't suddenly become suspect.
There's not much more I can add to this to help you understand.
Good luck with it,
-Cyn
I work in healthcare, I understand. This is a completely new vaccine, not just slightly different from last years normal influenza vaccine. The testing I am talking about is the testing they do on any new vaccine or medication. The trials to see how people react and the side effects. This vaccine has different components, which can cause different long term side effects that they can't possibly know about yet.
In what ways is it completely new, differing from the other new flu vaccines that are developed each year? I already know that the H1N1 vaccine is being made using the same processes and in the same facilities as the seasonal flu vaccines.
"The testing I am talking about is the testing they do on any new vaccine or medication. The trials to see how people react and the side effects.
But, since seasonal flu vaccines are new every year, how is the H1N1 vaccine different? Trials are done on seasonal flu vaccines too. Trials are nothing new.
"This vaccine has different components"
What different components?
So I ask you again, how is this different? So far, I've not seen you answer how the H1N1 vaccine is different. You're tossing out words and phrases but no data. Since you work in healthcare, please...enlighten us.
If you really don't know, just say "I don't know" and then we can drop this. If you DO know, let US know!
Thanks,
-Cyn
Sorry I had to go shopping for some warmer clothes for my daughter. I also saw where the two separate vaccines are being made with the same process and facilities. Also I understand they test the influenza shots each year, but like I said this is different. As far as the different components, like I said I haven't done all the research I want to yet. So far though I have found that H1N1 contains thimerosal, which is a form of Mercury. Although it is still used in some multi-vile vaccines, I would like to see more research on it in this particular vaccine. Also formaldehyde, MSG, and squalene which has never been approved in the US as safe. Also I spoke with my friends husband, who is a PA and has done a lot more research than I have and some of the early recipients of the vaccine have now developed neurological damage. He also said there just isn't enough research yet and his family will not be getting it. Also the dosage bothers me, it is the same for a 6 month old as it is for a grown man, that just doesn't seem right to me.
