I am hoping someone can give me some advice. This is my first time posting and am a new post op of 2wks. This will be TMI, but last night I took 2 Docusate Caps to help me relieve a constipation issue and the first went down fine, but the second seems to be stuck or atleast it still feels like it is stuck in my esophagus. Can anyone give me advice on how to help this pill pass or is it possible to feel like something is stuck when indeed it passed?
It hurts like hell and made me sick and very scared.... sip on water and nothing else until it desolves.... If the still feels like it is stuck by noon call your doc.... it is posible that it could be in a spot that they need to help you get it to pass. most of all don't to like I did and panic..... it made is so much harder to pass....
Call your surgeon and get his/her advice right away. You are only two weeks out? Weren't you seriously advised to crush all your pills for an indefinite period of time? At least 6 years ago when I had my surgery, there would have been no way that I would have taken a full pill 2 weeks out of surgery. Call your surgeon - best of luck. Maureen

Just so ya know, Im 5 days out & my nurse & dr. told me NOT to crush anything....I couldnt believe my ears! The dr. told me he knew what size he'd made my opening & told me any pill should pass just fine.
Well, let me tell u that I was having a hard time passing the pain pills that are NOT coated, but arent that big. So my nurse suggested coating them w/ Jello, and it worked pretty well. She suggested taking a few tiny bits of jello after the pill as well, & its helped a great deal. I stopped taking the stronger pain meds & have switched to regular tylenol, which are coated & going down great.
Hope the Jello trick helps.

Thanks for the advice. My surgeon has also prescribed certain medication in capsule form, albeit they are very small and approx. the same size as this Docusate. I will try both the warm liquids and jello.. Thanks
