Ahh, see, I do not understand these military things. I live in the nest of Army, Air Force and Navy, so I'm surrounded.

I was just thinking if it's free and easy..... But looks like it's not that at all for you.

Proceed. I didn't speak.

Military has to make everything difficult.  They have no consept of what the word easy means!  Which really stinks sometimes for us wives.

i worked for the Navy in Bremerton. I was an expeditor (taking the knots out of problems?), but sometimes I got in trouble if I deleted a troublesome step that included deleting a troublesome person of Great Importance. KWIM?

Yeah, you do.

And thank you both for your service, BTW. The best I can do is pick up a Starbucks for the guys behind me or something. Anon, of course. The glory is for them. The admiration is for me. None of my men were lost.

Dad was WWII, damaged but lived to 88.
1st dh had had polio n/a
2nd dh entered, but was injured on base in training, out
my two boys (as seen there) missed the time periods when they might have joined

So. Please pass along my thanks to you (the wife/family) and your loved one who offered it all up for me and mine.

Tri-care doesn't typically cover the DS, but I know they have in the past.    When I lived in Pensacola, a surgeon from Virginia had just moved to town who had done 75 DS's as a military surgeon.     His name is Dr. Jeffrey Lord.

Basically, they don't WANT to cover the DS, but they will if they are forced to because the RNY and Lap Band are contraindicated for your medical conditions.

You might reach out to his office for information on how to get Tri-Care to cover the DS.   His office manager actually moved to Florida with him, because she liked working for him that much.   She was very kind to me, and if I could have stayed in the US to do mine, it is likely I would have had it done with him because he was (at that time) local to me.

Hello,

I wanted to send you a quick note re:  a vitamin I am taking post op however I know several people that are not bariatric that take them.  Including someone with your very medical issues and it has helped her with joint pain, inflamation, ra, and it really helps with energy.  I absolutely love it, I think its like liquid gold... You should really look into it, I really think there is a huge chance it would really help you.  Go online to www.Jones.Vemma.com and look... ITS Awesome!  Let me know if you have any questions.  Good luck, Jeanette

I have arthritis and severe spinal stenosis, and was on track to get an RNY also. But when I found out I wouldn't be able to take my NSAIDs, I dropped the whole process. For a while I figured I just wouldn't get WLS, but then I found the DS.  I was lucky as my insurance covered it with no questions asked.  I was so relieved to find that I could get WLS and still take my NSAIDs if needed!

Come over to the DS forum and ask about TriCare.  I think there are several DSers there that have gotten it covered, and you could talk with them about it. We also have some "insurance gurus" who can help too.  Best wishes!
