I just ordered on for my sister for graduation (she asked for it). I had never heard of it before. I know they use it on the biggest loser. It seems pretty cool.

I thnk it is those things they wear on their arm that tells them how many calories they are burning with activity. I don't want one because it would say I don't exercise nearly enough!

Its a personal calorie managment system. You wear the bug an you arm and it calculates calories burned through out the day. Then you go online and enter in your foods you have eatten. The program shows you how how your calories burned compared to your calories taken in.

OFF TOPIC FROM ORIGINAL POST...

Wanda,

I just noticed your stats.  I am 17 months out and 5' 7" and got down to about 150.  I seem to be bouncing up and down a few pounds and got up to 156 last week and back to 154.

You say in this post that you don't exercise enough.  How do you maintain your loss?  What is a basic day's menu for you?    I eat FAGE yougurt, protein powder, chicken, etc.  I am amazed at how easy it is to gain.  What is your secret?

Thanks!

I've used a similar system.

I liked it -- it was good to know how much I burn even just sitting on my butt all day or sleeping.

I have a friend who got a Bugg for Xmas and is just going crazy with it!  She loves it and it pushes her to do a little more each day.  I think they're expensive but I'm going to at least check them out.  She even had someone meet with her to train her on how to use it to its fullest application.

I have one and used it a lot when I first got my lap band.  It's a great tool to keep you accountable.  You have to wear it all night for a night or two, and after that it just used those numbers to calculate what you burn during sleep, but you wear it from the time you get up till you go to bed, except for when you are in the water (shower, swimming, etc.).  You have to keep good  track of what you eat all day and know the nutritionals for each item, and log all that info into the computer each night, or throughout the day, plus you download the info from your bugg to the computer, where you will have your own site to track all your information.  It will tell you if you are on track to lose the amount you want to each week, tell you if you are eating more than you are burning, or vice versa (hopefully).  It has you measure yourself when you begin using it and weigh in once a week to see if your on goal.  It can be a little difficult putting in nutritionals for the little things like a bite of something or a spoonful of something, but if you tend to eat mostly the same foods, it will hold those nutritionals in the system so you don't have to put them in all the time.

I haven't been using mine since I revised to rny because my yearly subscription ran out and I just haven't renewed it, but I think I'm going to do that soon.  The only thing I don't like about it is that you wear it on your arm, and now that mine's getting jiggly, the band tends to sink in more which makes it obvious that they need a lot of work!

They are pricey, but a great tool if you're serious about using it faithfully.  It did keep me more active when I was wearing it, and made me think twice about each bite I had because you wanted your numbers to look good when you logged everything in each night.  Now that I'm talking about it, I really need to start wearing that thing again!!
