OMG!  Went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner last night.  First of all they do not have any nutritional data avalible for thier costomers.  Not even on their website!  Secondly, the have a 6carb cheese cake made with spleda, but no other nutrition on it.  Well after a lot of searching I found the stats:
6 Carb Original Chesecake Per 1 slice - Calories: 610kcal | Fat: 57.00g | Carbs: 39.00g | Protein: 16.00g

Where are the six carbs??? buried under the 39!

I am so made at the Cheesecake Factory, I will probably never go back!

Maybe it's NET carbs.  Sugar alcohol wasn't included in the nutritional data you posted.  Some people substract the sugar alcohols from the carbs to get NET carbs.

I found this, which explains how they get the 6 net carbs.  They deduct both sugar alcohols and fiber from the total carbs.  Back when I did a doctor-supervised diet, I deducted fiber from carbs to get net carbs.  I did not deduct the sugar alcohols, but a lot of people do.  I agree that it's misleading though, especially since not everyone deducts anything from the total carbs.

That's weird.  The last time I went to Cheesecake Factory I could swear they had nutritional information in a separate pamphlet right on the table -- and it was SCARY!!!!!  I always play a "which do you think has more calories" game with my kids whenever there's nutritional information on the table.  Very educational and fun for all!

What state do you live in?

Some states have made it mandatory to disclose this information.  In the states where it is not, many places are very reluctant to do so.

CA, but I've also seen it in a Cheesecake Factory in Nevada as well.

Ha!  I'm not surprised.  I live in this state, but the regulations here are RIDICULOUS.  Yes, I like having nutritional information available to me, but I don't think it's the government's job to require it.

 It's 6 net carbs. 39 - 12 g fiber - 21 g sugar alcohol = 6 net carbs.

Whether or not net carb counting is effective is a different conversation, but lots of low-carbers do it.
