I'm not sure this will make you feel any better, but you have a much better shot at reaching a size 8 than I do of reaching 5'8"!  I'd love to be taller like you.  

Don't give up on reaching a size 10 or 8.  As you lose, you'll see what looks and feels best for you.

You can be any size you want to be, the doctors goal has to do with him feeling successful and absolutely nothing to do with your goals.  It took me 2.5 years to reach my goal which was 40lbs under my doctors  goal and a size 4-6, which I haven't worn since I was 4.
