How long has it been since you have had a soda?
For me, about 10 months ago...
I used to LOVE Coke, never liked the diet version. In any case I'm pretty sure that drinking your calories is the root of all evil so I've not wanted to test the (soda) waters. I keep telling myself that having RNY meant never drinking carbonated or alcoholic drinks again so that is what I'm doing. Oddly now that I'm more comfortable in my body I'm doing more social things, going to bars and such and you would be surprised how hard it is to find a non-alcoholic AND non-carbonated drink. All the "juice" is very high calorie and the bartenders just love when you order water...

How long has it been for you? 9 months
And do you still get really tempted? Yes, not because I like the sweet taste of soda but because I miss the carbonation. I am trying to go for as long as I possibly can without taking a sip--it would not be a good thing for me to return to soda--diet or regular.

3 years and I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. There are some studies out there that are showing an increase in pouch dilatation as a result of carbonation. Even one study is enough for me not to try it. I absolutely don't want to do anything that might make this journey harder over the long run. I was told by a past president of the ASBMS that drinking soda definitely can cause an increase in pouch size over time. I don't like soda enough to be even remotely taking that risk.
