So what the heck happens after 30 minutes??
I treat 30 minutes as a guideline.... some food is already well out of the pouch befoer 30 minutes is up, and some food is sitting like a heavy stone there in your pouh... depends on what you have eaten. Most of the time, our volume is so low, and we chew so well, that the pouch is mostly cleared out by 30 minutes.
For me, if I still feel FULL, I don't drin****il I don't feel full... sometimes that is two hours if it's really solid stuff I've eaten. 30 minutes is when I can think about drinking but it's only the beginning.

I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!

90minutes - I never would have gotten my fluids in that way. At the beginning, I ate every hours, if I had to wait 90 minutes to drink, that leaves no time for more than one drink every 2 hours. I had to drink every 10-15 minutes (2-3 ounces at a time), all day long -not once every 2 hours. Now that I am further out and I can drink alot at a time, I guess it could be done but it still makes no sense. I don't wait at all before eating and 30 minutes after.
Have you had a serious conversation with your surgeon or NUT - whoever made this crazy rule and explain that you feel you can't get in your fluids by following this rule and you are afraid you will get dehydrated. Ask if you can go to 45 minutes possibly - that is still longer than most of us but better than 90. Your food is long gone by 45 minutes and it won't affect your hunger or stretching anything
