I haven't had a consitipation problems in years except after being on pain pills....
I started on a better vitamin regiment faithfully this past Monday....
2 multiple vits for WLS patients 2x a day...
8000 mg of D3
1200 mG of Calcium CITRATE (carbonate is constipating I hear - so I've never done that)
B complex subligual.
B12 sub ligual - but after starting these was wondering if any of THESE vits were constipating - I know IRON is and Ive never taken additional iron...because of that reason....NOT EVEN WHEN I WAS PREGNANT or AFTER !!
My friend told me NO - that none of these should be constipating - but I see that you all are having issues too........so I i knew it was something with my vits ...
I have always drink alot of GREEN tea..but doc was wanting me to cut back from the caffeine - so I did too in the past 3 months............if this is what I get - I'll take the caffeine and DRINK THE TEA !! lol
(((huggs)))))))
- Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose. Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email. I'll answer it as soon as possible.

Also trying a good low-fat yogurt or probiotic can really help as well (I use activia light and mix in a couple of tablespoons of cooked Irish Oatmeal or Kashi Go Lean Hearty grains).
Milk of Magnesia can help if you are really "bound up" to get things flowing again. And as others have suggested you can take a Magnesium (tablet) supplement to help offset the constipating effect of the calcium or iron.
A good routine to do might be...
Dulcolax Or (Colace) in the AM
Miralax around midmorning or lunch
Yogurt (sometime during the afternoon)
Dulcolax (colace) with dinner
Magnesium supplement at night
That is a really "heavy" routine and should clean you out fairly well. But stuff like Colace and Miralx (or it's generic equivelant) are really safe for us. We so need teh calcium citrate because losing ALL your teeth or having a heart attack or having broken bones is so NOT fun at all.
Believe me.
Good luck, I know constipation is never fun!
Warmly,.
Jackie
