Fever 102 and Tylenol isn't working?
Pretty sure I have the flu. Everything hurts. Even my teeth hurt. I am wondering if there anything else I can take to bring my fever down other than Tylenol? I've been taking Tylenol every 4 hours all day and it just isn't working to bring down my fever. Here I sit 2 hours after taking it and my fever is still 102. Fun.
Thanks!

If your teeth hurt, it is a sinus infection. Bend over and put your head between your knees, does your head hurt worse?? Then its sinus infection and you need antibotics.
If its the flu, Elderberry capsules from a health food store are suppose to work really well, if you look up what Weil says about them. I ordered them and haven't taken them yet. I dont' know if they are rny friendly but don't see why not.

Hey there! I'm the one that told Emily about the elderberry. I use them all the time - every time I feel something coming on - and they work great.
Two peer-reviewed studies have shown that elderberry lessons cold and flu symptoms from an average of six days down to two days. The NIH recommends it and says it's actually better for avian flu than the vaccine.
My PCP is the one that recommended it to me when I had a bug last fall that I couldn't shake - got rid of it in 24 hours with the elderberry root extract. Native Americans have been using it since the dawn of man, pretty much. I swear by the stuff. It actually supports respiratory health of any kind.
Good luck getting rid of it!

I woudl think, however, that if you are on any PRESCRIPTION meds for anything, you should check with your own PCP/prescribing dr first. Many herbal remedies can interact with prescription medications, and should never be taken without first checking.

You're right. However it can be tough if your PCP is not up on natural remedies.
My PCP prescribed this with other medications if I needed them and interactions were not an issue. However, I do know that people with kidney disease need to be careful with elderberry root.
Of course, one should do their own research. There is plenty of info online and you can find the two studies and the NIH recommendation there as well.

I had the flu recently and know of what you speak. Here's the thing with fever....it's an important mechanism to shorten the duration of the infection. In a child or elderly person we do want to control fever....but in a healthy hydrated adult.....it's prudent to let the fever run its course. I know you feel crappy.......but I let my fever go and it was over within 24 hours. Susan
