Hoping to have DS

I am hoping to have DS surgery in June. I have selected a doctor and I am waiting approval from my insurance company. I wanted to talk to people who had DS done and see what their advice is. I know several people who have had Gastric Bypass surgery but no one who has done DS. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. I am very nervous and I think it would help to hear from people who have already had the surgery.

You might want to visit the DS board here at OH---it's listed under Surgical Types up at the top of the page, where it says 'Forums'. There's a whole bunch of us DSers over there.

I'm a little over seven years post-op, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

You might want to reconsider your choice of surgeons.  He has done what he calls a DS, yes - but he also has unhappy customers who have needed revisions.  Come over to the DS forum and ask about him.

Where do you typically find out information about surgeons?  Although, I feel I had excellent care with Dr. Pomp and I had zero complications, I really did go into it blind.  I didn't do any research and just took his information at face value.  Yes, yes, foolish girl I am.  Luckily he was not a butcher and he was also terrific with post care.

However, is there a website or something that newbies can access to research their surgeons?  It seems like many of you know the skinny on many surgeons and doctors.

Please get more information about EXACTLY what this surgeon wants to do to you and learn about the real DS to compare. This is super duper important.
