Pain Left side

Hoe long before this pain in my left side will subside?  I'm ok sitting or laying but when i walk the pain I have in my left side is constant and annoying.  I am 6 days post op.

Well mine really started during week four and it was pretty bad for the whole week..worse than after surgery. Be sure to walk as this is the best thing to do.

If you look at a diagram of your surgery you will see that this is where you old stomach comes down and connects to you intestines. I had some pain there, but it only lasted for 3 days, and it wasnt a bad pain. I think that I had lifted something a little to heavy.

Be careful. If your unsure call your surgeons offiice.

I had gained 10 pounds right after surgery from a lot of edema (water weight) that felt like I was walking with 10 pounds of water baloons tied around my abdomen.  It took several weeks for that to go away before I felt less discomfort.  It might help to carry a small pillow with you and support that side with it while you are walking.  I had more difficulty with lying down so used a pillow for suuport then. We're all a little different in what we can tolerate, but it does get better.  Hang in there.

 I was at least six weeks post-op before I stopped having pain. Just stick with it and work through the pain. xx

It took me 3 1/2 weeks until that pain went away. It help when I put some pressure with my hand. And you may have some draining soon too, from that incision. Call your dr. If it worries you, just to calm your nerves. It's just part of the healing process.. I hope I explain it ok. Don't want to scare you ://
