Question about blocking

How do you know when someone has blocked you? Do you get an email or notice or something?

The only reason I knew I was blocked is that I saw who last posted on something I wanted to read, so I read everybody else's replies and when it should have been that person's reply next, there was nothing there. So, I got out and tried to read it again, and poof, no reply. So, there's no way to really "check" unless you happen to see that the person who blocked you is the last person to respond to a post, and then is not there.
