I'd like to use the other word but I'll use Crap. So CRAP CRAP CRAP! All of a sudden woke up with cold symptoms this morning. Runny(clear) nose, sore throat, eacache and my surgery is this upcoming Monday, the 25th. My paperwork says to call them if any changes in health such as cold, flu, etc. I havent yet and dont want to bc I really dont want them to say I have to reschedule. This 10 day liquid diet is hard enough, I cant take much longer of this.

Anyone had something like this happen? Or heard of anyone with this. If my surgery is rescheduled for any reason, Im going to question if it was a "sign" and I really dont want to. Im going to drink hot tea all day and hope it helps and hope its nothing.

Unless you have a fever they do not usually cancel surgery. I would treat it like a cold first with lots of fluids and maybe some mucinex and zinc. If your ear continues to hurt you may want to check into an urgent care to see if you have an infection, but it sounds like a run of the mill cold/allergy.

Get plenty of rest and fluids

Try not to stress. This happens more than you would think - I was sick right before my surgery too.

Like the prev poster said, if you don't have a fever they will generally do the surgery. Call you surgeons office today though and let them know what's up. You'll probably feel better just talking to them. If they are worried about it they'll put you on antibiotics; I would def start with that office first thing this morning.

Baby yourself and rest; try OTC meds and vitamin C but don't do anything drastic (you don't want to make yourself sicker or get some kind of bad reaction to something).

Hang in there. I bet you'll be fine by Monday and by Monday night just think - you'll be on the loser's bench!

This exact thing just happened to me . I was feeling lousy with cold symptoms on Thursday and had surgery this last Tuesday.  I called my PCP and he called in a Zpack and told me to take Zyrtec.  Two days later I was perfectly fine and I told the surgeon.  He said no problem and did my surgery.  I would give your PCP a call and see if you can get a Zpack.
