DS is good but so is RNY, even for someone our size as the person above addressed. You have to research what is best for you and your lifestyle. No one can choose what is best for you except you, regardless of how adament someone is about the choice made for their body.

The DS makes far more sense for someone with  your BMI.  Insist on it.  And please call Mr Patel's office and find out if you can use him in terms of getting it paid by the government.  It certainly doesn't hurt to ask.

Do not rush into this just because some surgeon made a recommendation.  Do your research and take your time.

Hey girl!  I had my DS done by Dr Ameet Patel at Kings College and am utterly rocking my size 12 skinny fit jeans!  I had a BMI of 51 when I started and you are bigger than I at the start so why your Dr is selling you out I do not know.  Call Beth, Dr Patel's Nurse Practitioner and get some advice.  It cost me exactly £10,000 for the whole thing.  The best £10G I will ever spend and over a year and a bit out and I' STILL dropping the pounds.  Please honey do this only once and look deeper at getting the Ds.

Sending love...PM me if you need more info. xx

RIP Mickie aka Happychick.  You will be missed deeply.

If I had the money I would get him to do it no doubt!
Im going to make some enquiries tomorrow and see if he does work for the NHS, as someone said it wont hurt to ask Especially with my BMI so high.
Thanks for the information, I will keep everyone updated once I have spoken to his secretary.
Thanks x

Congratulations Lucia on taking the steps to become a healthier person. I watched your videos and I must say that I enjoyed your insite into your journey. I am not going to say which surgery you should have because that is a personal decision between you and your surgon only. I just wanted to wish you success upon your journey! BTW...London is on my bucket list. I have been around the world (was in the Navy) but never to Europe.
