My doc wants me to use the whey-based powder; however, most have too much of a powdered milk taste for me.  Have tried Unjury and that taste just gags me.  Anyone else tried any that doesn't taste like dry milk?

Have you tried adding flavors?  The sugar free syrups come in almost every flavor you can imagine.  Or mixing it with berries in a blender?

good luck

Nectar medical is the best unflavored one I've tried.. but regardless, they all have a little "flavor."

Ugh. You're not drinking it PLAIN are you? If it's okayed by your doc, you should be able to add just about ANYTHING to make it not taste like crap.

No, not drinking it PLAIN!  However, I do put it in salad dressings and toss it in cooked veggies which is when I taste the milky taste.  Since the RNY, I can't drink anything cold, so using the powder in smoothies, etc., isn't an option for me.

Oh, thank God. I know people who have mixed the plain, unflavored stuff in a glass of water and tried to choke it down. Ew.

BTW: cute puppy!!!!

Mickey was a long-haired Chihuahua and the gentlest little creature GOD made!  In fact, on November 8, GOD decided that HE wanted to enjoy Mickey's company.

You might not be able to "just toss" it in anything that doesn't have a creamy texture. Since you can't tolerate cold drinks like smoothies, what about protein hot choc, using the unflavored or a choc flavor?

You might try making a warm sf custaed type thi g that would carry it well.

I am afraid that just about any of them are going to taste like powdered milk cause essentially, that is what it is, powdered milk whey.
Good luck,
Holly

Thank you.  The doc of my sister, who also had the surgery, but in Nashville, also doesn't recommend protein powders.  However, I'm about 2.5 years post-surgery and still can't eat very many different foods, particularly meat.  So protein powder is where I'm having to get my daily requirement from.
