Absolutelyofftopic -- Casey Anthony not guilty - Discuss
With no cause of death, with no witness to the death, with no foresenics relating to the death of the child, this was the only fair verdict.
It's sad to see the media's villification of Casey Anthony (deserved or not) rather than focusing on the real issues. There was no proof about how Caylee died. We can all "think" she's guilty, but this is America. Our whole justice system was designed to ensure people don't die for crimes they didn't commit - and even that fails sometimes.
NOT GUILTY does not mean INNOCENT. They are so far and distinct from each other. But this jury got the verdict correct - based on the evidence from the trial, and not the media. Justice does not always mean someone has to pay for it. Even though I don't like a thing about Casey Anthony, from a legal perspective, justice was served today.

Justice was not served for Caylee...BUT Justice was served for Casey. I think we all agree that Casey had something to do with the death....but you can not condemn a person to death because she is a rotten human being.

Wow, you know how she died but didn't provide that information to the medical examiner conducting the autopsy or the Prosecution?!?
I think you should take a deep breath and realize you're not being rational. Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion, but not their own facts. You have no idea how she died. You are essentially saying that any parent who has a child die through even simple inattention ought to be put to death. That's not how justice in the Western world works, perhaps you'd prefer Iran. Again, I'm a Prosecutor and I'm saying this was a very sloppy and overconfident prosecution - the outcome today was appropriate in its legal context. I'm sorry you think otherwise, but I have to say that I hope my life or liberty is never in your hands.

We all know she is guilty and it makes me so mad she is getting away with it. They said there was not enough evidence...well there would be if she would tell the truth for once. Today was her day to give justice to Caylee and take responsibility for what she did. If she loved her daughter at all she would have been honest about the whole truth and what happened. But it has shown from the beginning she was all about herself..not her daughter. I just hope Karma hits the second she gets out of jail.
Ok Ok Ok!!!!
What about a mother's duty to act? The child was missing! She had a duty to report this fact to the police and she didn't.
The prosecution made a mistake by charging her with 1st degree murder. There was more than enough evidence to charge her with neglect that lead to the death of her child. I don't care what anybody says. A parent not reporting the disappearance of a 2 year old is a serious offense. When that child turns up dead and buried there is no one else responsible but the parent who had sole custody of that child.
I am a reasonable person. I think any reasonable person could conclude that this mother did away with her child. I think the concept of reasonable doubt was not understood by this jury. The defense really lucked out with that jury.

Yea, not only " a duty" but a natural instinct to report her daughter's disappearance. She waited too long and made up too many excuses, for instance the tattoo she had done and what she told the artist about where her daughter was both times, and the heart shaped sticker was just too horrible to imagine someone actually might have done that to their own child.
If my daughter had been missing for even less then 24 hours I would be on the phone to everyone she and I knew and report it to the authorities ASAP.
