Surgery Date....August 18th
Hi Everyone...I am having surgery on the 18th of August. I have been on the liquid diet for 3 weeks now. I am getting a little nervous. Any suggestions on what to bring to the hospital....Anybody had diabetes? I have diabetes now..and they told me that I will be going home insulin free.....I am just astonished! Any advice from anyone? Thanks so much in advance!!!
My date is also Aug. 18, and I am also a diabetic, although I only take oral medication for mine and not insulin, but I have been told the same thing as well, that more than likely I would leave the hospital without my diabetic meds! I am so excited. There are several people lined up for surgery next week and I am adding them to my friends list so we can keep each other encouraged along the way! I will add you to my prayer list and pray for a quick and uncomplicated recovery and a diabetic free lifestyle!!! Keep in touch and we will walk this road together one step at a time!
Have nothing to add, but wishing the best to all of your as you begin your new journeys!

You won't need much.
I brought:
-toothbrush
-toothpaste
-hairbrush
-book to read (honestly didn't even look at it)
-insurance card/id
-throw blanket (I get cold easily)
I wore loose fitting clothes that I wore home. I also just used the hospital gown and socks.
And here is my two cents to add to this reply...
Personally I would skip packing the book(s), you are very likely to be too loopy and tired, etc...to even crack it.
Items I would add:
-robe(to cover your backside on the hall walks)
-hair ties or clips for pulling your hair out of your face if you need or desire that
-your own comfy slippers (most hospitals only provide the slipper socks now)
-cell phone and whatever device you may own capable of wi-fi connection (to keep in touch with your support team(s) and others that may not be able to visit you)
MOST IMPORTANTLY---A POSITIVE ATTITUDE! It really does help you overall.
Good luck!

To all of you going this week and everybody else too! Bring a chap stick, keeps your lips moist and comforable between sips of water. Also, one of you said she was bringing her pillow ... for sure...bring pillow for holding tummy on your way home! Thanks unknown lady who posted this long ago, I now tell everbody I can about this! Bless you all on your journey to better health and comfort .... Samantha
This was my 2nd go around for surgery so I learned the first time.. Bare essentials was all I took..
~PJ pants- Loose I took silk ones for hall walking
~Smart Phone I am inseperable from my phone and wi/fi
~Tooth Brush and Toothpaste
~Loose fittin Yoga Pants and oversized shirt and SPORTS BRA for when you leave the hospital
The bra is important because of where some of the doctors do the incision right under the bra line.
Good luck. Oh ya and the magazines I never open them. I was only able to concentrate on one text on my phone then I was back out haha.
