vision loss after surgery

I am a week out.  I'm waiting for a referral to a local opthamologist.  I have wet AMD in my left eye and lost all central vision in it because it was not seen to in time.  Well it was but the guy was incompetent and I didn't now what it was at the time.

I am having problems all of a sudden in my right eye.  I don't know if it's wet AMD starting in that eye too or if this is just some temporary effect from the shock of surgery and low calories.  There is a shimmering arc on the right side of my vision which as I write is fading away right now.  I noticed the arc on  my upper peripheral view yesterday, so this seems to come and go.

When I looked at my amsler grid a few mins ago I had a problem but right now it seems to have gone again.  Which is a big relief at least for now.

Did anyone else have temporary issues with vision like this?

I really really don't want this to be wet AMD.

What is wet AMD? Does it have anything to do with WLS? It doesn't sound fun!

it's macular degeneration that older people usually get.  I have lost the central vision in my left eye becuase of an incompetent eye dr.  I had what they call the wet kind and he kept blowing me off for six months.  This is fixable if caught in time. Found someone competant who saw right away what it was. I had lucentis shots for 6 months to stabilize it a while ago, but only having one good eye left makes me wary.

I looked it up on google and it turns out to be something called an occular migraine.  They are harmless.  BIG relief.  Weird, been having a return of really bad chronic migraine since the day before sugery but this migraine is painless.

Have you called your opthomalogist to see what he says?

Yes, but I have to get another referral for him because I haven't seen him in about 10 months (it's a Tricare Prime thing)  I'll get it set up and he can do a check for the AMD, just in case there has been any changes in the last year.

I was talking to a cousin of mine a few months ago and it turns out to be a family trait.  It usually just occurs in the one eye though (in our family) but it can happen in both.

The surgery (or lack of food) seems to have really triggered my headaches.  I've hardly had any in recent years, but it has made up for all that this last week.

POTENTIAL LOSS OF SIGHT IS A TRUE EMERGENCY, YOU DONT NEED A REFFERAL, GO TO THE ER AND HAVE THEM REFER YOU TO THE ER. ANY ER, OR THE MTF THAT YOU USE.

Thank you, he must have been listening because I looked it up on google (which I should have done before panicking) and it's an ocular migraine apparently, which is thankfully harmless.

How much vit A are you taking, dry form, retinol?

It would not affect the HEALTH of your eye unless you'd not taken it for many years. night vision is the first to go. But since you have issues already, be sure you are taking the correct form of vit A and not beta carotene and not in a soft-gel (oil)
