Yet another pre-surgery liquid diet rant... I got FOUR weeks!
I was suppose to do that for 10 days. I made it to day 1 and a half. I was sick, week, and half out of my mind. I had already lost almost 30 lbs from my pre op diet of low carb low fat high protein diet. I just stuck with that and cut my carbs even more and upped my protein even more. I was averaging less than 50 g of carbs a day and eating at least 90 g of protein. The night before my surgery I splurged and had a bacon cheese burger and beer battered onion rings. I had nothing to eat or drink past midnight. My surgery went fine and I didn't have any adverse effects from it.
Those are my two cents and for what it's worth. Also I'm not a dr. or have any medical training, just my experience.
Oh and are you getting your DS like you wanted?

I won't find out until Tuesday, but I a not getting my hopes up. It would have pros and cons regardless, so I can live with either surgery. We've really gotten into whole food eating and we don't eat meat, so the RNY could be just fine. Eh, we'll see.
I really think in the long run, I am going to try to stick with the liquid diet 100%. If I can't, I am going to try to stick with a very amall, low carb, vegan meal when needed.

I wish we had socialized medicine as well, don't get me wrong.
my understanding if you do low carb that makes your liver less slippery and that's all that is needed. I wish you good luck, anyway!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I don't know much about how health care works in your country. How is it funded? Don't you pay kind of high taxes to cover the free health care for everyone? If that's the case, they aren't giving it to you for free. Well, I guess if you've never worked and never paid any taxes, then it's free... but your friends and family members are paying for it. Unless none of them have ever paid taxes either.
But this doctor didn't just decide to donate his services to you, did he?

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
He didn't, but I have not been here very long, so I don't really have the entitled mentality. I am very grateful to be getting a surgery that I could not get approved in the US. I have never worked here, but my wife does and of course, I pay sales tax. And yes, our taxes are very high, but it covers healthcare, education through doctorates and many other programs. If I am not compliant and they decide I would not be a good candidate, there isn't another option for me.

I had to do 4-5 shakes + a small meal. all 1000-1200 cal per day.
Low fat - low sugar, plus a lot minerals and vitamins shakes.
2 per day - may not do that.
And I had to give up coffee and back tea, and soft drinks..

Yep my surgeon is old school so I had 30 days of liquid diet. Not just liquid but skim milk for 3 "meals" a day, all I could drink in 15 min. Oh and all the calorie free other drinks I could get down the rest of the day. About 1/2 way thru I gave in and ate a slice of swiss cheese once a day for 3 days, I figured it was thick milk! It's doable but sure no fun!
