Oh geesh! I don't know how people do this type of pre-op diet. Kudos to you.

I have to do "full liquid" diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. My surgeon said that it will shrink your abdominal girth and your liver. I am hoping to have the single incision laproscopic RNY. I am very nervous about this diet....

Im in the same boat as you.  I start a liquid diet on the 18th for a month.  Im thinking the 2 weeks after surgery shouldn't be too bad but the 2 weeks prior is what im dreading!..it does say I can have yogurt or cream soup with no meat pieces in it yippee

Unless I can convince him otherwise, it's shakes on for four weeks PRIOR to surgery. Blah. At least I get more than skim milk, I guess.
Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f*ckin' perfect.
Pink!

I feel your pain!  i started my 4 weeks of skim milk diet today.  i chose a few things that i love and ate them for meals, didn't overindulge, it was nice to have a few guilt free meals, the only bad part is that after eating so well for a while, i wound up feeling really bloated and crappy from the "unhealthy" foods, it almost wasnt worth it, shows me how much i have changed.  we have a fall 2011 group, feel free to swing by, i could use some support on this liquid diet thing myself!

I had two weeks and it was hard.  One on the hardest things I had to do but it was so worth it now.  16 months later and 135 pounds, I will take it.  maria

I had to lose 10lbs and keep it off or risk being cancelled, it happened over Christmas.  I spent a great deal of time pouting over it also and then realized that the rest of my life is going to be changed by surgery so what the hell is 10lbs or 28 days.  Its nothing.  Reality check, no one is making you do this, you are doing it for yourself.  Either you think you are worth it or your not, its not gonna be easy once the honeymoon of surgery wears off, its gonna be like eating like a normal person who diets when they eat a piece of cake to compensate.

Good Luck

My surgeon told me the reason for the liquid diet (his is 2 weeks) is to reduce "fatty liver," which makes it much easier to get to the organs underneath. There was even an example of what a "normal" fatty liver looks like vs. one after the 2 weeks of the liquid diet and the difference was like night and day.

No idea why someone would require FOUR weeks though...that's rough. Have you asked why?
