Burning Belly

Hello everyone! It is Friday. I hope everyone gets to do what they wnt to do this weekend.
I had my surgery in Jan and so far other than fighting the food demons it has been good.
On Wednesday for the firsy time, I had a rotten belly. It hurt so much. I figured since I pigged out on pumpkin seeds the day before that I deserved to feel like **** that day. It finally went away and I only ate liquids and soft proteins that day. Well the next night I am up at 3 in the morning, my belly is aching again. It feels like it is burning. Last night the same. Last night I drank some pepto and slept sitting up and it did help a bit, at least last night I was able to get back to sleep. I was wondering if I may need an acid reducer? This burning doesn't happen during the day, only at night when I have been laying down sleeping.
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. I have to work this weekend and need to get some good sleep.

Thanks,
Michelle

I view any belly ache in a whole different light, post-surgically, especially if the pain is ongoing.  I would, without question, call my surgeon's office and describe my symptoms to them and let them decide what course of action may be appropriate~

Feel better!

 I agree.  Call your doctor.

Mine was gastritis.  It's annoying  but manageable.

Good luck.

I agree.  I use Mylanta as a rescue medication.

I had similar symptoms over the course of a week or so last year.  For me, the final straw was the inability to sleep through the night... NO ONE messes with my sleep!

I went to the ER, was misdiagnosed, but then went to a gastro doc, got scoped and confirmed an ulcer.

In the meantime, I was given prescription strength Prilosec... it's therapeutic, as well.  Try it, BUT GO TO THE DOCTOR TO CONFIRM A DIAGNOSIS!  Do NOT mess with gut pain!

PS... I had my second ulcer just a few weeks ago... yowza!

I called my doctor and was told that it is probably an increase of acid in my tummy. I have an appointment for Nov 30 but if it persists over the weekend I am to call them Monday. In the mean time I am to try Zantac to see if it helps. Thanks for the replies.
