I notice mine are a bit off lately.  I've read quite a few posts where people mention being on sleep aids.  Is this something common that can happen after WLS?  If so, why is that?

It's so funny you say this.  I had my RNY in 12/08 and I've had sleep issues ever since.  I have no explanation for it, but I do know that B12 defficiency can cause sleep disturbances......and i am B12 defficient.  Maybe doubling up on your B12 may help.  B12 is part of the reaction that converts homocystein (bad for you) into melatonin......so give it a try!  Good luck.

Oh, that's interesting.  I'm a bit late for my labs because my ID has expired and I need to get a new one.  I need to get on that.  I do the sub-ligual every other day so it will be interesting to see what shows up.

Thanks.

I'm not B12 deficient but I have also had sleep issues.  I wake up a lot.  I can't blame the bed as ours is very comfortable and custon made for us on each side and that was done after I lost my weight.  I have no explanation either but have heard many people on here say the same thing.

I too suffer with insomnia since WLS.  All of my B levels are good.  I was a little deficient in magnesium which I read can cause insomnia.  I am taking magnesium but have seen no improvement in the insomnia yet.  Insomnia sucks.

I would never want to back back to being obese but darn! I never would have imagined that insomnia would be so debilitating. It started a huge downhill slide in the last 3 years!

Ive been on sleep meds for the last 4yrs as well. B vitamins all ok mostly anemic more than anything else. Been working on getting those levels up

I did experience horrible shin pain for yrs and after many drs visits and testing I discovered the source myself.

I cant take anything such as benadryl or any over counter sleep aids.
The first ingredient seems to be the culprit.

I stopped taking them and the pain has stopped.

Just a bit of info I thought Id pass along just incase someone else may be experiencing bone aching pain in the shins.
