Need Help!!!!

Hello all I just got approval for my surgery which is scheduled for march 12, 2012.

I’m excited about that yet a little bit nervous, but my thing is my Dr has put me on this 2 week liquid diet.  I been on it for a week so far and it is depressing me so bad. Has any of u out there done this diet? Pls tell me how u got thru this.  :(

I had my RNY on 2/22 and had 4 days of liquid pre surgery, and then clear liquids for a week post surgery and now back to full liquids for a week with another week to go before pureed stage. I know it is difficult and you begin to crave anything with substance.  I keep thinking this is only a temporary stage and it will pass. The best motivational tool is looking at the before and afters on this site!!!! I never thought that JUST chicken broth could taste so good and savory.

I think we all go through this and right now I can get my morning protein shake in without any issues. But it is a struggle now for me with the second shake come evening.  I know this isn't much help but I wanted you know we all go through it and it will end soon. This is something we all wanted to do and were so excited to get approved. Just think about life in a new body, more energy and best of all great self esteem....that will put a smile on your face while you sip your way to feeling better abut yourself.

Tell us more about what is depressing you with the liquid diet. Are you hungry, head hungry, craving? Are you eating things off the plan? carb withdrawal? What items are included in the plan?

Hormones are stored in fat and when you start breakind down that stored fat for energy, those hormones flooding your system can cause us to get  bit whacko.

More info will help us help you.

I had to do the 2 week liquids for my surgery and the only thing that got me thru it was sugar free jello cups and sugar free pudding. Whenever I was feeling hungry I would reach for one of those or I would drink a protein shake. I've also heard that optifast is really good to help during the liquid diet but I never actually tried it myself.

There are various options for liquid diet. You can take fruit juice. These are the best and also you wont ge bored taking them. Except those, you can have milk, curd, vegetable soup, etc.
