carbonated drinks?

I am 3 weeks out today and am having some difficulty with getting in all my required fluids. I have crystal light and flavored waters (which I hate), I am wondering if many people have gone to the carbonated sparkling waters or back to diet sodas and what type of effect are they having?

Thanks to all for continued support

The carbonation will make it even more difficult for you to get in your fluids.  find a protein you like.  Syntrax Nectars come in many great flavors, and sip that all day.  Good luck!

I tried Coke Zero for a while. The caffeine made me a nervous wreck and kept me hungry.  I gained ten pounds before I gave it up and went back to water.  I love my Brita pitcher.  It gives me good tasting water for a very low cost.

Even at 8 years out, I still shy away from any sort of carbonated beverage and personally find that sparkling water to be more carbonated than any type of soda and in general not wls friendly, especially at only 3 weeks. At 3 weeks, it was all I could do to get in my 3 shakes a day. You need to find a beverage that you can consistently drink without discomfort and that includes being palatable.  As crazy as it sounds, the container you use to drink from  can have an impact. If its opaque, you cant see the progress you are making, but with a clear bottle, you can. Smaller cups more often versus larger cups less often. Do you have a favorite coffee mug that somehow instills a good memory from where you got it, thereby making anything you drink out of it more pleasurable? Whatever you need to do to get in the fluids you need, thats what you need to do.

Good Luck in your journey

At just 3 weeks out, I wouldn't switch to carbonation as the gas you could get from it will make you feel worse. I didn't start drinking pop again until I was over a year out and I drink it daily now with no regain (minus pregnancies).

You're too early postop to consider carbonated drinks. Try some different flavored teas. Depending on what your doctor says, you may get pop back someday. I have a diet Pepsi every other week or so, but it doesn't taste as good as it used to. I can really tell that it leaves me thirsty.

I didn't add carbonation until about 3 yrs out....and probably shouldn't have then.

One of my fave juices is the Ocean Spray Diet Cranberry Juice....not the Light.....the Diet only has 2g of sugar.

I also like hot teas in various flavors for something that isn't always sweet.

I can also remember getting sick of all the sweet tasting items.....even the suagr free ones....I resorted to sipping dill pickle juice!  I know...that is weird.

I was *alwatys told, or heard from others* to avoid carbonated beverages.  Period.  End of story; not now, not ever.

I drink them everyday - I didn't early out because the carbonation hurt but there is no realy not to once you hit a year out.
