Ready made shakes taste worse (in my opinion). One is called Isopure.
Have your tried Syntrax Nectars protein powder?
Syntrax Nectar is available at Vitacost and they have great shipping deals. http://www.vitacost.com/productResults.aspx?x=0&y=0&ntk=prod ucts&ss=1&Ntt=syntrax%20nectar Also, they have great blender bottles that have a surgical steel mixer ball inside. Blender bottles are really nice after surgery because it takes so long to drink your protein. This was you can just shake it up as needed. You can also get them at Vitacost. http://www.vitacost.com/BlenderBottle-Blue

I like the Premier Protein Shakes in Chocolate. They taste good. Just like chocolate milk. No protein flavor or aftertaste. They have 30g of protein in the 11oz serving. I get mine at Sam's Club or Meijer. Not sure if you have those stores where you live but you can google them and go to their website. There is a tab that says "Where to buy". That's how I found them. I am also 2 weeks post op. :)
These are the ones I like:
Lean Dessert Protein from BSN Online!
This one is is a whey blend powder, so it doesn't foam like the whey isolate, and it has an awesome taste! The Lean Dessert is 21g/serving, and directions say to mix 1 scoop of it with 4-5 oz. of fluid. This tastes too strong for me. I use my Blender Bottle and mix 1 1/2 scoops with 12 oz. of Silk Unsweetened Almond Milk. That almond milk has just 35 calories per 8 oz.
I also use Premier Chocolate RTD. and Premier Vanilla RTD.

This is a good one too, but just 25g:
Labrada Lean Body

These are good also:

Small 8 oz. size of
Chocolate Milkshake RTD protein.
It has 18 g of protein!
This is what I have been buying on the Oh Yeah! protein. They do have a larger bottle though, and I think the large one is either 25 or 30g.

And if I'm doing protein bars, it is usually Power Crunch, Zone Perfect, Oh Yeah! Wafers.

I'm with Chris here - early out, when I had difficulty with things that were thick, I tolerated the Nectar fruity shakes the *******so found that I tolerated shakes I mixed more than pre-mixes (probably has to do with the ratio of liquid to protein).
Get some Nectar, and hang in there another few weeks. At that point, your taste buds should have settled down a bit and you can try other flavors.
If the problem truly is the whey protein, Jay Robb makes an egg protein mix, and there are also soy protein mixes. However, you should know that studies show that, in the absence of medical issues, whey protein is the easiest absorbed and therefore the best for most of us.
Good luck finding some you can use right now - it took me about 30 different types (thank heavens for single serve sizes to try!) early out, but now I can tolerate many more brands/flavors.
