f*** This Up
I am sympathetic and your situation is something many of us fear. Regain can happen for various reasons, mechanical failure, overeating, not following rules, etc.
Your situation is not the norm of why most regain though. I do agree with the other veterans for the most part however it isn't fair to make the assumption that everyone is just not following rules etc. Some people do have mechanical failures that make following the rules hard(er) to lose and other problems WILL require a revision period.
As it pertains to your stoma being too large, you will have to diet (and be hungry more often unfortunately) or consider a revision to another surgery. Sorry you are dealing with this.

Are you still thinking about having a BOB. if you have an enlarged stoma, I don't think it till work for you. Should show have an RNY revision. As a BOB who knows other Bobs, it works for people with enlarged pouches, not so much for an enlarged stoma. The BOB isn't going to give you what you don't already have and I'd be shocked at a surgeon who would give you a band (BOB) when your pouch is still small.
While weight loss was a great benefit...I did MY surgery, the Duodenal Switch (which you did not list) to get rid of my diabetes, avoid hypertension, basically get rid of ALL the prescription meds I could...got rid of 9 out of 11 and the last two have NOTHING to do with obesity.
So while serious regain happens with the others, serious regain seldom, if ever happens with the DS...we usually get no more than a 10/20 lb bounceback.
But not everyone gets WLS JUST to lose weight.

I like your candid motivation! Unfortunately, many surgeons promised RNY as a miracle cure to obesity, at least 10-yrs ago they did when I had mine, and there was little if no aftercare program. Shame on them. But the reality is, this is your life and your body and you are responsible for you. Don't blow this chance!
